Reminder: SmartestEnergy will withdraw from the FiT scheme as of 31st March 2017

Posted on 10 March 2017

As many will already know, SmartestEnergy will no longer participate in the Feed-in Tariff scheme as a voluntary FiT Licensee from 31st March 2017.

In order to continue receiving FiT payments from 1st April 2017, generators are required to appoint an alternative licensee and have the switch completed by 31st March 2017.

Under the FiT scheme, there are two categories of FiT licensee (Voluntary and Mandatory). A Mandatory FiT licensee is obligated when approached to register and make FiT payments to generators. There are currently 6 mandatory FiT suppliers in the UK.

SmartestEnergy are currently registered as a Voluntary supplier, along with 29 other suppliers in the UK. As of 1st April 2017, SmartestEnergy will not be listed as a voluntary supplier.

Greenspan have already assisted over 40 clients to manage the appointment of a mandatory or voluntary supplier to support FiT payments following the announcement from Smartest.
