Torness nuclear plant offline leaving 1,190MW gap in generation

TornessTorness nulcear power plant in East Lothian was shut down on Friday due to an influx of seaweed which threatened to clog its systems.

The 1,190MW plant is owned by EDF energy.

This will be a costly gap in generation and brings to light the importance of distributed generation of energy.
