Record High in UK Wind Energy on 21st October 2014
The recent strong weather experienced in the UK triggered by Hurricane Gonzalo resulted in wind turbines outperforming nuclear plants for the first time last week in terms of contribution to the National Grid.
On Tuesday 21 October wind accounted for 14.2% of electricity production, nuclear accounting for 13.2%.
The high wind speeds continued through the week resulting in wind almost matching nuclear in average electricity production, wind accounting for 13.1% and nuclear accounting for 13.7%.
