High winds in December… again

ollowing last December’s record electrical output on the back of high winds, it looks like more of the same this year.
With three of the UK’s nuclear reactors still offline (at Heysham, Dungeness and Sizewell B), high wind power generation is helping to offset the supply risk.
Taking account of both transmission and distribution connected sites, wind is currently accounting for over 15% of all the UK’s electricity requirement.
